Do you have SED?

April 10, 2006

SED is not a new form of STD, so relax. SED promises to be the next "big thing" in eletronic display technology. SED (Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display) is co-developed by Canon and Toshiba to replace the aging Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Technology found in many of today's TVs and computer monitors and to overcome many of the shortcomings of Plasma, LCD, and OLED displays. In short, SED TVs and monitors (available in 2007) will:

  • Ghost-free or blurry images (response time less than 1ms, which is similar to CRTs)
  • Vibrant colors (10,000:1 contrast ratio)
  • More energy efficient than current LCD displays
  • 180° viewing angle. No bad seat in the house
  • Full High Def Support

So, if you are sports junkie or a entertainment afficiando in the market for a new tube, save your bucks and wait until next year! You probably won't believe your eyes. For more information check out this very infomative read on SEDs by GotFrag Hardware.

Official: MS Windows XP on Mac by Apple

April 5, 2006

Apple Computers introduces Bootcamp for all MacTel owners who wish to run Windows XP on their new Macs. The download is available free of charge. This latest development by Apple is not surprising given the fact the Apple did the exact same thing with the iPod back in 2001/02 when hackers decided to post software enabling Windows users to transfer music to their iPods. Smelling a sweet opportunity, Apple followed suit by porting their iTunes music store application to Windows and offering their iPod to Windows customers. Result: the Apple iPod became a cultural phenomenon of the early 21st century. Can history repeat itself? Will the Apple reignite the personal computer revolution in the 21st century? I say let the revolution begin…

Users beware: Apple Bootcamp is still a beta version but is probably better than the version than the "homebrew" version released a couple of weeks ago, just because of the fact that all the necessary working drivers are included. The official version of Bootcamp is expected to ship within the next version of Mac OS X (Leopard), coming to a mac near you in 2007.

Chalk up another win for biodiesel!

March 1, 2006

High school kids at West Philadelphia High School have stole the thunder at last week’s Philadephia Auto Show by building world’s first economical and fuel efficient sports car. The sportscar can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4 seconds, which is just as fast as some of the fastest sports cars in the world made by the likes of: Ferrari, Porshe, Lambourghini, etc. The car runs on a biodiesel derivative made from Soybean oil.
